Seven Cooperative Principles

Northeastern REMC operates according to the seven cooperative principles. These principles help guide the operations of all co-ops throughout the world. They were first described in 1844 and, while they have gone through a series of changes over the years, these principles still form the basis of the cooperative spirit to this day. Here are the seven principles that help guide our daily operations at NREMC

What it means to be a member

As a member of Northeastern Rural Electric Membership Corporation, you are part owner of this cooperative. You can attend our annual meeting, vote for members of the board of directors who help shape policy, receive patronage capital refunds, receive exclusive benefits and so much more. Because we are a not-for-profit cooperative, membership is required to receive service. You become a member once your membership fee has been paid and your application for service has been processed.
