Do you know a middle schooler making a difference in your community? We want to hear from them! Northeastern REMC and Indiana's electric cooperatives are accepting applications for awards recognizing Indiana's youth's community spirit.
The Youth Power and Hope Awards program honors fifth through eighth graders who are community leaders. The annual recognition program emphasizes young Hoosiers' vital role in shaping their communities.
Up to five qualified candidates will be selected to receive $500 and be featured in an upcoming issue of Indiana Connection, among other highlights.
The awards will only be open to the children of Indiana Electric Cooperative members. Therefore, the applicant's parent(s)/guardian(s) must be a member of an electric cooperative in the state.
Past award recipients include students who have initiated a coat drive for the underprivileged, supported patients at Riley Hospital for Children, worked with special needs children, volunteered at a local animal shelter, raised money for the American Cancer Society, and more.
Applications are due Friday, Oct. 4.
