Northeastern REMC linemen will compete at the third annual Indiana Electric Cooperative Lineman Rodeo Aug. 22-23 at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville. This two-day event brings the best lineman from around the state to complete in events based on traditional electric lineworker skills.
The rodeo includes competitive events for apprentices, journeyman lineworkers, and teams of three to showcase the skills and safety training they’ve learned and still practice in their everyday work. Lineworkers will be tested on skills such as pole climbing, hurt man rescue and safely changing electric line hardware, recognizing and rewarding excellence in safety, skill, and knowledge.

A total of 37 teams and 138 individuals from 28 Indiana electric cooperatives will compete in this year’s event.
The rodeo kicks off on Thursday, August 22, starting with the opening ceremonies at 8 a.m., followed by the Lineman Memorial and team events from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The excitement continues on Friday, August 23, with individual events scheduled from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Additionally, the event will feature a kids’ zone with various activities, face painting, and a shaved ice truck from noon to 4 p.m.
Attendance at the event is free and open to the public. Entrance to the event will be located at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds Gate 5 off N. County Road 200 E.
