42 students represented electric cooperatives from across the state at the Indiana State House this week including Matthew Willits (Fort Wayne) from Northeastern REMC. The students participated in a tour of the Indiana Statehouse and had the opportunity to meet legislators. Pages learned how a bill becomes a law and passed their own legislation in a mock bill activity.
“Serving as a page gives young people a unique opportunity to participate in state government,” explained Chris Todd, Director of Marketing of Northeastern REMC. “Experiencing the process and the heart of state government brings to life many of the lessons students learn in the classroom. Seeing it firsthand takes it to the next level.”
This is one of the many youth programs offered by NREMC along with Indiana Electric Cooperatives as we work together to power the future!
