Each summer, Northeastern REMC chooses two area juniors to attend Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. This opportunity allows young Hoosiers to visit the nation's capital, experience American history, learn more about government, and better understand their electric cooperative.
Northeastern REMC is pleased to announce this year's representatives:
Alexander Ira Ressler
Columbia City
Columbia City High School
Genevieve Cicchiello
Fort Wayne
Bishop Luers High School
Ressler and Cicchiello will join a delegation of students from throughout Indiana chosen by other electric cooperatives and students from up to 46 different states.
These students will visit the Flight 93 Memorial, Gettysburg Battlefield, Arlington National Cemetery, National Museum of the Marine Corps, and Smithsonian museums. The delegation will also tour the National Mall memorials, take a night cruise on the Potomac River, and much more.
There will also be a youth event hosted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and spend a day on Capitol Hill, where they will have an opportunity to meet with Indiana's congressional delegation to ask questions and share their thoughts on a variety of timely issues.
The 2022 Indiana Youth Tour is scheduled for June 16-23. To learn more about NREMC's youth programs, please visit nremc.com/community.
