Co-op members' generosity makes a real difference in the community through Operation Round Up.
COLUMBIA CITY, IN - Northeastern REMC’s Operation Round Up program continues to make a significant impact in the community, donating a total of $5,250 to four local nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of residents in Northeastern Indiana.
Each month, more than 1,600 members of Northeastern REMC choose to round up their electric bills to the next whole dollar. This small change accumulates into meaningful contributions that help support various community initiatives and nonprofit organizations through the Operation Round Up program.
This quarter, four organizations have been selected to receive funds:
The Center for Whitley County Youth
The Center provides vital support and programming to at-risk youth in Whitley County, focusing on education, mentorship, and community engagement. The funds will be used to expand their after-school tutoring and enrichment programs, helping more students stay on track academically and develop important life skills.
Kate’s Kart
Kate's Kart is a nonprofit that supplies new books to hospitalized children to provide comfort and promote literacy. The donation will be utilized to purchase new books and expand their program's reach to additional hospitals in the region.
Lexi’s Voice
Lexi's Voice advocates for children with special needs and provides educational resources and support to families. The funding will support the creation of educational toolkits and resource guides for parents navigating special education services.
Community Harvest Food Bank
Community Harvest Food Bank is dedicated to alleviating hunger in Northeast Indiana by providing food to those in need. The donation will help cover operational costs and distribute more meals to food-insecure families in the region.
"We are grateful to our members who continuously support Operation Round Up," said Eric Jung, CEO of Northeastern REMC. "Their generosity makes it possible for us to assist these incredible organizations that are making a real difference in our community."
