Over the course of the last five years, members of our Peak Thermostat Program, or Rush-Hour Rewards as it was known in the beginning, have received $223,792 in bill credits.

Five years ago, the only thermostats available for the program were the Google Nest thermostats; in year three, we added Honeywell thermostats. This new smart thermostat costs around $69 retail, but when you sign up for the Peak Thermostat Program, every member receives a $50 bill credit for signing up and then an additional $50 bill credit at the end of the cooling season, which means the thermostat pays for itself in the first year. Plus, you get another $50 bill credit every year you stay enrolled in the program. This program is not only a benefit for members directly, but it saves the cooperative as a whole from paying high peak-energy costs during the hottest days of summer. Many members don't even have to purchase a new thermostat because the one installed in their home is already a Wi-Fi connected, smart thermostat!
